Firstly, I don't think the output will write out in an uncompressed format. Secondly, I don't think it should: the compressed output (*.xml.gz format) takes up about a tenth of the space of the uncompressed format (*.xml) - and that's for a compact events file. For a network file the difference is even larger. Why does the compressed format bother you? The visualisers (Via and OTFVis) can both handle the compressed files directly.
Hi Johan, thank you for your response. In our case, we found the requirements of OTFVis and Via too restrictive for our needs so we have written our own visualiser and analyzer for the Matsim output. Since we ultimately process the XML files ourselves, we find the gzip compression as an extra step we can do without. It would have been great if there was an option to turn this off. Regards, Leorey
