Availability of MATSim models for global study on impact of increase in motorcycles on urban traffic?

Dear all,

we recently presented our key findings of a study on the impact of increasing motorcycle ownership and introducing eScooters using MATSim Singapore to our partner BMW Motorrad. The key research questions were:

  1. How can Amit's Seepage implementation be computationally optimised for efficient use in big scenarios?
  2. How does the increase in motorcycle ownership and usage impact traffic flow and congestion?
  3. Which modes/trips would be substituted / cannibalised through the increased use of motorcycles / eScooters? 

BMW Motorrad is now interested to scope a comparative study for which we would answer research questions 2 & 3 but for several metropolitan regions.

Therefore I am currently exploring for which metropolitan region suitable MATSim models would be available for such a study. Suitable models ideally are

  • calibrated against travel survey data and traffic counts
  • feature public transport
  • can be made available for such a study (no restrictions with regards to data access of the relevant MATSim data)
  • Have been developed or updated within the last 5 year

So far I can imagine the following models to suits those demands, but invite you to add any other model you think could be suitable for such a project:

  • Zurich (IVT)
  • Berlin (VSP, open model)
